Belarus exports to Russia's Vologda Oblast up 49% in 2017

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Belarus' exports to Russia's Vologda Oblast increased by 49% to $141.2 million in 2017. This is the results of the implementation of the program on cooperation development between the government of Belarus and the government of Russia's Vologda Oblast for 2017-2020 last year, BelTA learned from the website of Bellesbumprom Concern.

Under the decision of the Council of Ministers of Belarus, the responsibility for the implementation of this program has been assigned to Bellesbumprom Concern. In this regard, Bellesbumprom is carrying out the relevant work, developing joint action plans and various measures to strengthen cooperation between Belarus and Vologda Oblast in all the areas (trade, economy, culture, sports, regional policy, etc.). One of the strategic tasks is to increase exports, and positive dynamics was registered in this direction in 2017.

Belarus' main exports to Vologda Oblast included means of land transport, automotive technology, measuring devices, parts and accessories for trucks and tractors. Belarus also supplied wood and wood products, furniture, clothes, food and other products. In July 2017, Belarus resumed supplies of its potash fertilizers to Vologda Oblast. Over the last six months of the year, Belarus shipped $18.4 million worth of these products. In total, Belarus sells more than 30 types of goods to Vologda Oblast.

At present, the parties implement projects to develop the machine-building cluster based on Cherepovets Casting-Mechanical Plant and increase the localization level of MTZ tractor production in Vologda Oblast, and also the delivery of Amkodor special logging equipment.
