MOGILEV, 15 July (BelTA) – Exhibition performances of athletes, thematic venues and a four-hour Olympic quest will be on the program of the cultural and sports festival "Vytoki. A Step Toward Olympus” in Bobruisk on 17 July, Aleksei Voronkov, the head of the sport and tourism department of the Bobruisk city administration, told BelTA
“Bobruisk Arena will be the central venue of the large-scale festival,” Aleksei Voronkov said. “It will host a large Olympic quest with many sports competitions and contests, the winners of which will be awarded with prizes from the National Olympic Committee. The festival will feature sports, entertainment and educational sites, food courts and a family recreation area.”
A large thematic zone will embrace the sites of the traffic police, the Emergencies Ministry, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Department of Protection at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, DOSAAF, and other agencies and departments. For example, the Bobruisk emergency management department will put up its site "The Emergencies Ministry-Land". Children and their parents will be able to learn more about fire and rescue sports, the K9 service, see the performances of many-time national and regional champion in kettlebell lifting Vladimir Tsiribko and the two-time record holder of the Guinness Book of Records rescuer Evgeny Los from Bobruisk. The program will also include master classes, an exhibition of emergency rescue equipment, a water show, and a safety contest.
“The main goal of sporting events is to encourage young residents of Bobruisk to take up sports, and to promote a healthy lifestyle and outdoor activities,” Aleksei Voronkov noted. “The program will also include athletes' exhibition performances and presentations of 28 sports, offering children to try their hand in all of them. More than 1,000 people will work at these sites. We expect the festival in Bobruisk on 17 July to draw at least 5,000 children and teenagers,” he added.
The festival in Bobruisk will wrap up with a ceremony to award winners of the vocal and art competitions, a concert, a disco, and a firework display.
According to Aleksei Voronkov, there are ten sports educational institutions and Olympic reserve schools in Bobruisk. They enroll more than 4,000 students in 24 sports. Seven athletes from Bobruisk have secured berths for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
