Sasnovich misses main draw at Indian Wells

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Aliaksandra Sasnovich failed to qualify for the main draw of the WTA-1000 tournament in Indian Wells, USA, BelTA has learned.

In the first qualifying match on 2 March, world No. 116 of Belarus lost to Kayla Day of the USA (world No. 187) with a score of 2-6, 5-7. In the decisive match for a place in the main draw, the opponent of the U.S. tennis player will be Latvian tennis player Darja Semenistaja (world No. 99).

The main draw will be held on 4-15 March. The total prize money for the Indian Wells tournament is $9.4 million. In the 2025 final, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (world No. 1) lost to Russian Mirra Andreeva. In 2012 and 2016, Belarusian Victoria Azarenka claimed the title.
