MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – The multisport forum which will take place in Minsk in June 2019 will help popularize aerobic gymnastics in Belarus, the head coach of the Belarusian national aerobic gymnastics team Lyana Beznosyuk told journalists in the press center of the publishing house Belarus Segodnya.

“One male and four female athletes will represent Belarus in the group events. Dzmitry Zakharevich and Yuliya Valadar will also perform in the mixed pairs. Aerobic gymnastics is not very popular in Belarus. I believe that the European Games will boost the development of this sport in the country. We are doing our best to ensure successful performance of our athletes at the multisport forum,” Lyana Beznosyuk said.

She added that the world leading countries in this sport are Russia, China, Italy, and Spain. Belarus occupies the 20th position among European countries.

The leader of the national aerobic gymnastics team Darya Kharaneka noted that all the athletes of the team are vigorously training for the European Games and will try to perform to the best of their abilities.

Aerobic gymnastics is included into the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 program. On 24-25 June, 56 athletes will compete for two medal sets in Minsk Arena.
