MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – The guests of Belarus will give the assessment of the 2nd European Games after the competitions are over, Belarus' Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Aleksandr Baraulya told BelTA.
“A lot has been done over the past two years to organize the games at the highest level. When they are over, the assessment is most likely to be given by the visitors. As for my impressions, a lot that we had planned was implemented. Little is left to be done: our athletes need to succeed and make their fans, our people happy. I think we will hear a lot of great names,” Aleksandr Baraulya said.
“Yesterday was the first competition day. We won 14 medals, of them four gold medals. I hope our athletes will keep the pace. We are currently going second in the medal standings. We know the sports we are strong at. We will do our best to deliver the most,” the deputy minister said.
The 2nd European Games are underway in Minsk on 21-30 June. The games are featuring more than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries. Competitions are taking place at 12 sports venues.
