MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarus' World No. 83 Egor Gerasimov was off to a good start in Montpellier as he defeated Andy Murray (World No. 121) of the UK 7-6(8), 6-1 to reach the second round of the Open Sud de France, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted 1 hour 45 minutes. Egor Gerasimov will face the winner between fifth seed Jannik Sinner (No. 34) of Italy and Aljaz Bedene (No. 60) of Slovenia.
Belarus' Andrei Vasilevski and Jonathan Erlich of Israel saw off the Indian-Slovak duo of Divij Sharan and Igor Zelenay 7-5, 6-3 in the round of Last 16. In the quarterfinal Andrei Vasilevski and Jonathan Erlich will face David Pel of the Netherlands and Sweden's Andre Goransson.
The tournament in Montpellier will complete on 28 February.
