MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have won over 40 medals during the international artistic gymnastics tournament Legends of Gymnastics in the sport facility Stayki in Minsk District, the press service of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association told BelTA.
Athletes from Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan competed in the event. Belarusian gymnasts won a total of 44 medals, including 15 gold medals. For the men the team leader Yahor Sharamkou claimed victory in the vault and floor exercise. Among the women Ulyana Kuzmenkova posted the best score on the floor exercise and also led the all-around competition. Anastasia Smantser added another gold medal in the balance beam event.
In the junior category the winners of the home tournament were the Belarusian athletes Damir Puzanov (pommel horse), Vladislav Gerasimov (horizontal bar, parallel bars), Vladislav Basargin (rings), Yelena Zhikhareva (all-around, vault), Olga Sivakova (parallel bars), and Milana Tsalabanova (balance beam).
Belarusian gymnasts also won the team competition. Apart from that, the Belarusian athletes Aleksei Senyuta, Oleg Teselsky, Nikita Parfenovich, Andrei Shreiter, Dmitry Novitsky, Grigory Sanko, Stanislav Pavlyuchenko, Sergei Doroshenko, Diana Kravchuk, Arina Molochko, and Violetta Voznyuk made it to the podium in individual events at the Legends of Gymnastics tournament.
