Belarus to take on Oman in two beach soccer friendlies

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) - The Belarusian national beach soccer team is gearing for the new season, BelTA has learned.

Today in Muscat, Team Belarus coached by Spanish specialist Nicolas Alvarado takes on the Omani national team; the second clash is lined up for 28 March in Muscat. Belarus currently ranks fourth in the world standings, behind Brazil, Italy, Russia and Portugal. Oman is in 11th place.

Earlier, Belarus played two friendlies against Russia in Minsk. The hosts lost the first match 2-6 and then lost by a minimal margin 3-4. The Belarusians remain one of the world’s top sides, having finished as runners-up at the 2025 World Cup in Seychelles, where they narrowly lost 3-4 to Brazil. Russia, meanwhile, is a three-time world champion.

This season, Belarus will compete in several major international tournaments, including the Euro Beach Soccer League. At the end of May in Spain, Belarus will face Czech Republic, Portugal and Türkiye in the opening stage. After the qualifying tournament, eight teams will advance to the Superfinal, which will take place in Viareggio, Italy on 8-13 September. Belarus has claimed bronze in the competition for three straight years, having previously claimed silver in 2021.
