Belarus to bid to host EHF EURO 2026

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) - Belarus intends to bid to host the Men's EHF EURO 2024, Belarus' Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said as he met with President of the International Handball Federation Hassan Moustafa and Secretary General of the European Handball Federation Martin Hausleitner in Minsk on 14 September, BelTA learned from press service of the Sport and Tourism Ministry.

Sergei Kovalchuk welcomed the guests and informed them of the development of sports and healthy lifestyle, rich winning traditions of domestic handball players. The minister also announced that Belarus is going to bid to host the Men's EHF EURO 2024.

Hassan Moustafa, in turn, congratulated Sergei Kovalchuk on the successful holding of the European Games in the Belarusian capital. He also noted that since his last visit to Minsk, the city has changed for the better, including the sports infrastructure.

Martin Hausleitner also shared his positive impressions of what he saw in the Belarusian capital. In his opinion, a large number of world-class sports facilities will certainly become an advantage of the Belarusian bid. The final decision on the venue of the EHF EURO 2026 will be taken by the EHF Congress.

Germany will host the tournament in 2024.
