Belarus’ Shtykhetskaya secures uneven bars bronze at Baku World Cup stage

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Belarusian athlete Sofia Shtykhetskaya has become a medalist at the second stage of the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian gymnast earned her place on the podium in the uneven bars event. After qualifying fourth out of 27 competitors, Sofia delivered a final score of 13.800 points to secure third place. Olympic champion Kaylia Nemour of Algeria dominated the competition with 15.233 points, taking gold, while Russia’s Leila Vasileva claimed silver with 14.033. Shtykhetskaya’s previous achievements include becoming Belarusian all-around champion in 2025 and reaching the finals at the Youth World Championships.

Sofia’s bronze is her first career medal at World Cup stages. Other Belarusian representative Ulyana Kuzmenkova also took part in the uneven bars final, finishing sixth with 12.666 points. Earlier on 7 March, Belarusian Yahor Sharamkou secured gold in the men’s floor exercise. On 8 March, Belarus’ Anastasiya Smantsar will compete for honors in the floor exercise at the Baku tournament. The third stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup will be held in Türkiye on 12-15 March.
