MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) - The leading Belarusian yachtswoman Tatiana Drozdovskaya celebrated a victory in the Laser Radial competition at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne 2013 in Port Phillip, Australia, on 7 December, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Sailing Federation.
After ten races the Belarusian topped the list of competitors and left the opponents far behind. Tatiana Drozdovskaya finished first on six occasions and scored 19 points. China's Dongshuang Zhang was second (28) while Australia's Krystal Weir third (32).
The competitions in Melbourne brought together over 200 yachtsmen and yachtswomen. The regatta is one of the sailing competitions which results are taken into account when releasing the world ranking of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).
According to the latest world ranking of the ISAF in the Laser Radial class, which was updated on 21 October 2013, Tatiana Drozdovskaya was third. Before that she had been topping the list during several months. The successful performance in Melbourne will again secure the first place for Tatiana Drozdovskaya.
Tatiana Drozdovskaya is Belarus' leading yachtswoman in the Laser Radial class. She is a many-time world champion, World Cup winner and a finalist of the World and European championships. In 2000 she was awarded the status of the international master of sports. In 2007 she secured the world champion title. Tatiana Drozdovskaya represented Belarus at four Olympics in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. She was 23rd at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 15th at the 2012 London Games. On 8 April she topped the ISAF Laser Radial world ranking for the first time.
