Young people from Uzbekistan join back-to-school charity campaign in Belarus

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Young people from Uzbekistan - participants of the 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan joined the BRSM Youth Union back-to-school charity campaign to collect school supplies for kids in need, Secretary of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Central Committee Aleksandra Goncharova told BelTA.

“On 9 August, the participants of the 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan which took place in Minsk this week will return to Uzbekistan. The forum wrapped up with a charity event at the Zhdanovichi children's home. The participants from Uzbekistan brought the children sweets and souvenirs from Uzbekistan, and also gave them a national music instrument,” Aleksandra Goncharova said.

The 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan kicked off on 5 August. It was conceived as a platform to discuss modern trends in IT and exchange experience. The BRSM Youth Union and the Youth Union of Uzbekistan are set to promote the international youth startup movement and entrepreneurship. The forum was hosted by Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics and Belarusian National Technical University. The participants visited the sci-tech park Polytechnic of Belarusian National Technical University, Minsk City Technopark, the educational center of the Hi-Tech Park, EPAM Systems, and a business incubator at the Youth Social Service. The cultural program included tours of Minsk, the National Library, and the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History. The participants from Uzbekistan also visited the crypt of the All Saints Memorial Church and the National Art Center for Children and Youth, and attended a presentation of the project To the Glory of the Common Victory.

Following the 1st Youth IT Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan, the BRSM Youth Union and the Youth Union of Uzbekistan signed a roadmap of cooperation in information and communications technology.
