MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – In an interview with the TV channel Belarus Five President of the National Olympic Committee Viktor Lukashenko recalled how his father inspired him to love sport, BelTA has learned.
According to Viktor Lukashenko, the only way to encourage children to love sport is by setting a personal example. That was certainly the case for him. “I experienced this firsthand as a father trying to instill a love of sport in my children. If you make it a habit to do morning exercises and practice sports several times a week, sooner or later your children will follow suit. I follow my father’s example,” he said.
The NOC head shared: when he was the head of an agricultural enterprise, Aleksandr Lukashenko always found time to play football. Yet for someone with such a job, the workday in summer starts as early as 6 in the morning. “It was precisely before that, while it was still twilight, that he would always go out for a run. I went running with him a couple of times. I didn’t last long. That’s why a personal example is paramount. Plus, certain life factors influence whether you maintain your youthful love for sports and take it further,” said Viktor Lukashenko.
