"On Point"
MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiative to establish the Board of Peace sends a positive signal to those wishing to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Ukrainian MP Artem Dmitruk said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“In any case, for everyone awaiting a peaceful resolution, the Board of Peace represents a positive sign. This is something we must hold onto. In my opinion, it would be quite realistic to create a working group comprising Ukraine’s political and public circles under the auspices of this Board,” Artem Dmitruk said. “I am talking about those people who are currently in prison or were forced to leave Ukraine. This would be a peaceful alternative voice from Ukraine.”
In his view, this would make it possible to hear the voices of those Ukrainians who advocate for peace and the cessation of hostilities. “This could serve as a foundation for developing a mechanism to launch actual peace process,” the MP believes.
Thus, Artem Dmitruk emphasized, the Board of Peace is a good and necessary initiative that should be developed. “I believe that Donald Trump, as the initiator of this organization’s creation, could use it as a platform to establish alternative working groups [aimed at settling the Ukrainian conflict],” the MP concluded.
