MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) - Serbian film director Emir Kusturica spoke about his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in his recent interview with Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Emir Kusturica met with the Belarusian president in 2010. In his words, during that meeting the Belarusian leader admitted that he had sentimental feelings for the Soviet Union times. “I understood him. It is part of my life,” the filmmaker said.
“I remembered all the best filmmakers of the Soviet Union,” Emir Kusturica added. “It is impossible to say that everything that was in the not-so-distant past was bad. We agreed with the Belarusian president that the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia are history. We have to admit that there were both bad and good things there.”
