MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) - Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko met with State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev to discuss the mission of the Union State Media Company, BelTA learned.
“We are constantly exchanging information on the
progress in the implementation of a number of decisions taken by our presidents
and heads of government. Today we are discussing the decision to establish the
Union State Media Company. This decision needs dynamic practical realization as
the former format of Union State coverage was recognized as insufficient. Our
citizens are not well informed about the Union State programs and other matters.
It is important to bring this information to our people more promptly,” Igor
Petrishenko said.He also congratulated
Ekaterina Abramova, Director of the Union State Media Company, on her
appointment. “This is a very important, responsible and challenging job. We are
ready to provide all possible help and assistance to get this company up and
running in a short time,” Igor Petrishenko emphasized.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The Supreme State Council adopted a plan to celebrate this date. “We are improving and overhauling a number of facilities in Brest Hero Fortress. As for the sacred place for our peoples, Buinichi Field, this year envisages the allocation of resources to jointly implement this truly ambitious project,” he stated.
In turn, Dmitry Mezentsev pointed out the growing relevance of integration work and increasing number of tasks, including on the humanitarian agenda. “We think that we all will help establish the Union State Media Company. The most important thing is to ensure that people receive objective, extensive, meaningful information about the Union Sate, about our history, about those events that require a careful review in the chronicles of the Belarusian and Russian peoples. We need new content,” he emphasized.
