Parliament speaker: People’s interests are at the heart of Belarus’ priorities

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - We are putting the interests of our people at the center as we are building the present and the future of Belarus, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said at a meeting with students of the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University in the House of Representatives. The meeting was held within the framework of the information and educational project “Youth for Belarus!” by the House of Representatives BelTA learned.

“To date, we have achieved a lot. We are building our present, our future. The most important thing is our sovereignty and independence; we prioritize the interests of the people as a whole rather than of separate strata of society. The thesis of the head of our state - The state for the people - has been consistently applied in practice over the past 30 years of our country's development,” Igor Sergeyenko said.

“We have preserved our economy, our manufacturing capabilities, modernized them,” the speaker stressed. “Belarus accounts for 80% of tractors produced in the CIS, about 50% of chemical fibers, a fifth of refrigerators and freezers. We are actively promoting relations with other countries.”
“We will not allow making Belarusians hostage to foreign geopolitical interests,” stated Igor Sergeyenko. “We are well equipped to ensure this.”

The project Youth for Belarus! Has been launched on the initiative of the members of the House of Representatives and targets students, primarily leaders of youth organizations and freshmen. The main emphasis of the meetings is to discuss the achievements of modern Belarus, the prospects of socio-economic and socio-political development of the country.
