GRODNO, 8 December (BelTA) - The decisions adopted by the Belarusian People’s Congress will maintain the development momentum of the Belarusian state, Grodno Mayor Andrei Khmel told the media, BelTA has learned.
“The most important political event in our country’s life is the Belarusian People’s Congress, a popular assembly, upholding the finest Slavic traditions. We are certainly looking forward to it because, within the framework of the Congress, delegates will consider the most important strategic documents for our country’s development. We are talking about the upcoming five-year plan (2026-2030). First and foremost, of course, this is the program for the social and economic development of our state, which will determine the areas in which the country will progress: the social sector, the economy, and so on,” said Andrei Khmel.

According to the Grodno mayor, other crucial strategic areas such as foreign policy and state security are also discussed at the Belarusian People’s Congress. “Everything will stem from the message of the head of state, who, in his address to the people and to the Belarusian People’s Congress, will outline these priorities. While many of these points are already familiar, discussions on the social and economic development plan are actively underway in workplaces nationwide. In the time remaining, I will visit them as a delegate and inform people about what will be happening there,” the mayor said.
“It is also a meeting of representatives from all over Belarus - officials, ordinary workers - who have been honored to discuss matters face-to-face (sometimes in the corridors), share opinions, and meet old friends. It is a wonderful event. I am very glad that I will be representing the city of Grodno there. I believe that all the decisions that will be adopted by the Belarusian People’s Congress will maintain the development momentum of our wonderful state,” Andrei Khmel said.
