Novopolotsk hosts Marathon of Unity

NOVOPOLOTSK, 13 January (BelTA) – Novopolotsk is hosting the nationwide social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity. The marathon's program includes exhibitions, concerts at enterprises, artists' workshops, This is my country campaign and a concert of the Presidential Orchestra, Chairman of Novopolotsk City Executive Committee Igor Burmistrov told BelTA.
"We welcome the Marathon of Unity to our city. We have been carefully preparing for this event. It will use 16 venues. The program includes fascinating exhibitions, unique shows at our enterprises, workshops of artists and musicians," Igor Burmistrov stated.

This is My Country is one of the key events of the marathon in Novopolotsk, which will be held on Stroitelei Square. The Marathon of Unity will end with a concert of the Presidential Orchestra at the community center of the Naftan oil refinery.

Igor Burmistrov thanked the organizers and artists for creating a festive atmosphere. "We are always happy to host such events and look forward to new ones. Unity, cohesion, patriotism, love for our country are the foundation of our future," he emphasized.

He pointed out that Belarus is proud of its historical heritage and recent achievements, and its future depends on the unity of its citizens. "Belarus has chosen its own path of development and has become a strong, prosperous, independent and peaceful country in 30 years. This is the merit of our president. The citizens of Novopolotsk will do their utmost to ensure that Belarus continues to develop because we are united and time has chosen us," he added.

This year Novopolotsk celebrates its 67th anniversary. "Our young city has high rate of employment. The unemployment is almost non-existent. Holding the Marathon of Unity inspires us, especially during the important electoral period, when we are preparing to vote on 26 January and show our unity," Igor Burmistrov said.

He pointed out that the city was chosen as a venue for the Marathon of Unity on the initiative of its residents. "It was a request of the residents. Novopolotsk’s residents are active, hardworking and cheerful people. We are happy to welcome such a holiday, especially on the Old New Year's Eve. It is symbolic," he said.
