MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Belarus does not view any state as an adversary and has no intention of attacking anyone, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko told the STV television channel, BelTA reports.

Pavel Muraveiko emphasized that Belarus is solely focused on ensuring its own security. “This has already been stated a million times at all levels. We do not intend to attack anyone and do not view any state as an adversary,” he said. “We are fully prepared to live in peace, ensuring mutual security, taking into account our interests and strictly safeguarding our own security.”

He further noted that military security in the region next year will depend on developments in the conflict in Ukraine. “Firstly, this. Secondly, it depends on the decisions the United States and the Russian Federation make when discussing compliance with the peace treaty,” the first deputy minister stated. “And there is a real possibility that tensions and escalation will ultimately subside. The prospect of establishing peace in Ukraine certainly exists. The entire international community is working towards this. Common sense will prevail over militaristic ambitions, peace will be established in this country, and the escalation of tensions will subside throughout the region.”
