Mishustin: Belarus-Russia are speeding up work in line with Union State Treaty

YEREVAN, 1 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are speeding up work on all major areas of the Union State Treaty, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said as he met with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Yerevan, Armenia as part of the Eurasian Economic Forum on 1 October, BelTA has learned.

“Our governments have been actively working to fulfill all the instructions and agreements between our leaders. They were adopted at the Supreme State Council meeting in January 2024. We are speeding up work in all the main areas in line with the Union State Treaty within the next-year period. We are giving priority attention to strengthening trade and economic cooperation,” Mikhail Mishustin said. “We are strengthening the technological sovereignty of the Union State with the focus on 27 joint programs in industrial cooperation.” The Russian prime minister thanked his Belarusian counterpart for his active position on the matter.

Belarus and Russia also work to step up cooperation in the humanitarian sector. “On 25 September 2024, Minsk played host to the Union State Youth Forum. An event to preserve the common history of Belarus and Russia will take place in October,” he said.

The 3rd Eurasian Economic Forum is taking place in Yerevan, Armenia on 30 September–1 October. The forum is held as part of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting featuring the heads of government of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and observer states. The event is held within the framework of Armenia’s presidency in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2024.
