Kupala Night Festival kicks off in Alexandria

 

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – The nationwide Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) is opening on 5 July with tens of thousands of people expected to attend, BelTA has learned.

According to the organizers, this year the main themes of the festival will be the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia and, of course, traditional family values and universal human values.

The first guests are expected to arrive at 11:00.

Thematic locations will be open throughout the day until late at night: #MerchoftheFirst, Made in Belarus, an exhibition of the State Quality Mark holders. The exhibition-fair Kupala Tree of Life will be the center stage of the festival. At the fair visitors will see stands from all districts of Mogilev Oblast, all regions of Belarus and 29 regions of the Russian Federation. Concerts featuring music groups from Belarusian regions will be running there from 12:00 to 20:30. Winners of the Lord of the Village national rural family project will be awarded at 15:30.

Guests will be able to take part in the puzzle competition I Know Belarus, try their hand at various sports, visit an entertainment and tourist site, and also the site of the Mogilev Oblast Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

From 11:00, laureates of the 2024 presidential prize For Spiritual Revival and holders of presidential grants in culture will present their projects. Numerous shopping arcades will line up the streets. There will be a youth area and a site dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

From 11:00, everyone will be able to visit the classroom at the Alexandria Secondary School where Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko studied.

A concert of Belarusian and Russian performers will start on the small stage at 13:30. The opening ceremony of the festival is scheduled for 15:00. A concert of the Ivanov Folk Instruments Orchestra of the Mogilev Oblast Philharmonic will be held there from 15:45 to 16:30. In line with a tradition, the Kulagin Mogilev DOSAAF Aeroclub will perform demonstration flights from 16:30 to 17:00.

Laureates of the presidential prize For Spiritual Revival and holders of presidential grants will be performing on the small stage from 18:00 to 19:00.

Music groups of the Community Center of Minsk Tractor Works, the Baltic Cossack Choir of the Regional Folk Art Center of Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast, holders of 2024 presidential grants in culture will also take to the stage.

The concert “Songs that Unite Generations” of the Mogilev Oblast Philharmonic will start at 19:00. The artists will perform popular songs of the war and post-war years.

The Field Cinema will open at 13:00; performances of the Mogilev Regional Puppet Theater will start at 14:00. In line with a tradition, circus shows will be running from 13:00 to 14:00, from 16:00 to 17:00 and from 18:30 to 19:30.

The gala concert will kick off on the large stage at 21:30. The fireworks will light up the sky over the Dnieper River at 23:20, and the river bank will be decorated with a large bonfire.

The festival will go on with a disco on the small stage. Dance enthusiasts will be able to dance to upbeat music from 23:45 to 3:00 on 6 July.
