Governor outlines five-year plan for agricultural development in Gomel Oblast

GOMEL, 7 January (BelTA) - The performance of the Gomel Oblast agro-industrial complex in 2025 will serve as a solid foundation for the sector’s development in the near future, Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 7 January, BelTA has learned.

The Gomel Oblast governor reported to the president on the implementation of instructions following last year’s meeting in Vitebsk dedicated to the operations of agricultural organizations. A series of measures, including a patronage system, have been promptly adopted in the region to support the enterprises.

“In general, by the end of 2025, growth has been achieved in key sectors such as agriculture (112.1%), construction (123%), and others. According to current statistics, 568,000 square meters of housing have been commissioned, and the overall housing construction target, including state-supported housing, has been met,” Ivan Krupko emphasized.

According to the governor, last year’s results provide a good foundation for the near future for the leaders of a number of agro-industrial enterprises. “They have already felt the increase in income from crop and livestock production. This is reflected both in investment opportunities for further development and, of course, in the wellbeing and prosperity of every agricultural enterprise worker,” he noted.

Farmers in the country’s southeast ended the year with growth across a number of indicators. “In particular, today milk production growth is at 107%. The goal is set to maintain this pace and increase it, so that the first year of the new five-year period becomes a good launchpad for the development of the agro-industrial complex and for the five-year period as a whole,” Ivan Krupko outlined.

The report to the president also covered the situation in the southeastern region amid heavy snowfall.
