"On Point"
MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - Despite being in a state of profound domestic political crisis, it is incorrect to assert that the United States will collapse in the near future, political analyst Alexey Naumov, the author of the Telegram account Vneshpol, said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“We are observing the United States from our own perspective, from our East European space. Speaking in terms of foreign policy, the United States indeed continues to dominate and maintain its hegemony. It is strong, has not collapsed, and are not collapsing," Alexey Naumov said.
However, the political scientist noted, the situation within the United States itself is fundamentally opposite. “The country is facing a major constitutional crisis. For example, Donald Trump even considers it possible to disregard rulings of the United States Supreme Court. And now a major battle is looming over his so-called 'tariffs'. Furthermore, he believes it is permissible to deploy the National Guard of one state into another state. Previously, this was unimaginable in the U.S. society,” he said.
According to the political analyst, the United States is indeed currently in a state of domestic political crisis, which does not significantly affect Washington's foreign policy. “The spread of mutual hatred indicates that the United States has significant problems with civil accord. Does this mean the United States will collapse tomorrow? No, it does not. But undoubtedly, the country is facing a major process of some kind," Alexey Naumov is convinced.
The political scientist pointed out that there is a concept in English called “soul searching”. He believes that this is precisely the process that may begin in the United States. “Soul searching is a process the United States has yet to undergo. And I think we will witness many interesting developments. But I believe we will be fine, and this will not affect us,” Alexey Naumov noted.
