"On Point"
MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – Russia’s strategic focus in the special military operation is not on peaceful Ukrainian homes or cities with civilians. Instead, it is on strategic targets, Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert stressed that Russia’s main strategic focus in Ukraine is “not on peaceful Ukrainian houses or peaceful cities with civilians, but on strategic targets.”
According to him, there is a deliberate hierarchy of objectives. “First and foremost is the energy sector. We are disabling energy infrastructure not because we want Zelensky to heat his home with straw. No. Above all, energy powers the military-industrial complex, and the work of the manufacturing industry depends on it. We are striking at those very lifelines,” Viktor Baranets emphasized.
“In wartime, the side that inflicts more painful blows on the enemy acts correctly. Yes, energy comes first. The second focus is on military targets – headquarters, groupings, troop concentrations, and so on,” the military observer noted.
