MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – The types of tourism in Belarus that are most popular among Russian travelers were outlined by Chairman of the Board of the National Union of Tourism Industry of Belarus Filipp Guly at a press conference in St. Petersburg dedicated to preparations for the 4th Belarus-Russia Tourism Congress and the international forum Travel Hub Sodruzhestvo, BelTA has learned.

Filipp Guly first highlighted weekend tours, which attract visitors from St. Petersburg and Moscow due to convenient logistics. In second place are health-resort and wellness services, driven by their scale, accessibility, and competitive pricing.

“In recent years, as infrastructure develops, spa services, stays in village cottages, and various types of glamping, which are not yet fully regulated by law, have also been gaining popularity,” he noted. “Excursion tours and routes, both group bus tours and individual trips, have always been in high demand. Independent travel by rented or personal cars also plays a major role.”

He added that business tourism is also showing growth.

Speaking about cooperation between Belarus and Russia in the tourism sector, Filipp Guly pointed to common challenges and objectives. “The world faces major turbulence. In fact, we have all experienced this before. The pandemic period was a vivid example,” he said, adding that industry professionals already have experience working under logistical, political-economic, and other constraints. “For the CIS domestic market, this is a good opportunity to develop infrastructure and improve service quality. Preferential financing serves as an additional tool here.”

Filipp Guly also emphasized the importance of training regional teams and businesses that will promote hospitality services locally and develop regional tourism products, including in active tourism. These issues will be widely discussed at the sessions of the 4th Belarus-Russia Tourism Congress and the Travel Hub Sodruzhestvo international forum, which will take place in Minsk in April.
