MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Everything is openly demonstrated during army exercises in Belarus. Moreover, foreign observers are invited to attend them. Andrei Bogodel, Candidate of Military Sciences, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science, Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
The military expert emphasized that military exercises abroad take place practically one after another, but at the same time every event like this in Belarus causes an unhealthy reaction in the European Union. “Of course, it causes hysterics. Why? Additional contingents are being moved here, and a regional grouping of forces and assets is being created. I can’t say that they are terribly afraid over there because in accordance with the Vienna agreements on transparency we show exactly how many personnel would be involved, the locations of the military training areas, and, most importantly, we invite observers to come here,” Andrei Bogodel shared.
He added that while military contingents abroad understand what is happening during such exercises, representatives of the authorities stir up the general public and often present distorted information, portraying Belarus and its allies as aggressors. “This is one of the components of information warfare. In other words, it is also one of the elements of deterrence, but only on their part. This is why the information war goes on all the time,” the expert noted.
He added that every action within the territory of the Republic of Belarus is closely monitored by the collective West, which reacts instantly, forcing Belarus to move its “red lines” as it happened during the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2025 when the events had to be moved deeper into the country and away from the borders with European states. With this decision, Minsk sought to demonstrate not only good neighborly relations, but also partnership relations.
