MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) - The pursuit of national interests through force rather than honest and open dialogue will inevitably lead to serious consequences, Ukrainian lawyer and blogger Tatiana Montyan said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“If one side believes it is stronger and will win regardless, it will try to force its way instead of resolving issues honestly, openly, and sincerely. And until that side receives, pardon the expression, a slap in the face in every sense, it will not be ready for genuine steps,” Tatiana Montyan said.

According to her, such behavior often results in punishment for arrogance, overconfidence, and disregard for others. “I believe this is exactly what will happen to the USA and the collective West. You cannot treat others as subhuman while considering yourself so powerful that you can orchestrate coups in other countries, as happened in Ukraine and was attempted in Belarus,” she said.

Tatiana Montyan stressed that dialogue is necessary at any stage of conflict: “We must say it plainly: you were wrong, you resorted to force, you tried to push your agenda, taking advantage of the fact that no one initially wanted to fight you. You were tolerated for seven and a half years under the Minsk Agreements while you prepared for an attack.”

Regarding the situation in the USA, she commented: “Trump has a chance. He says this isn’t his war, that Biden and the Democrats are responsible. But Trump isn’t entirely independent either. He has the military-industrial complex, arms dealers who don’t want their profits to end. Diplomacy’s task is to tell them: ‘Guys, you will pay for this; you can’t behave like this.’”

According to Tatiana Montyan, it is mediators who must deliver such messages to all parties.
