MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – The Ukraine conflict is very consequential for the entire world, Sergei Karnaukhov, PhD in Law, expert on security services said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
According to the expert, the current events in Ukraine are the result of a standoff between intelligence services, in which the U.S. played a significant role. He stated that the special military operation launched in 2022 was inevitable.
“We understood perfectly well that this wasn’t a military situation, but a humanitarian one. On the other hand, the Americans had skin in the game. They quickly realized what was happening and launched a global strategy against Russia. Many ask: didn’t we know? Yes, we did. We entered the game, and we ultimately won, despite temporary losses. But we must understand that this is the work of intelligence services. We were drawn into this conflict. We chose to engage because we understood that, by navigating the provocations laid before us, we would still prevail,” said Sergei Karnaukhov.
According to him, subsequent events hinged on the difficult and resolute decisions of the Russian president. “When we began to withdraw from Kiev, the British, Americans, and their Ukrainian proxies were practically celebrating. They drank heavily, believing they had won the war. No one expected that at that moment the president would grit his teeth, reset the military situation, and advance. It then became clear that even temporary setbacks mean nothing in the face of an overwhelming will to win,” the expert emphasized.
Sergei Karnaukhov is convinced that the conflict plays a huge role in maintaining future peace. Thanks to these events, he argued, it has become clear to all that modern warfare, given current technological developments, is utterly futile, as it is unwinnable. This realization, he said, has also dawned on the United States.
“Look at how Trump has recently tried to intimidate Venezuela. Russia played a role in helping Venezuela prepare for a potential American invasion; China also provided military-technical assistance. The Americans, having deployed their navy off Venezuela’s coast, suddenly realized they could observe real combat unfolding. It is no longer the era of America’s desert wars. They fire missiles, then the infantry must move in, and that infantry would be decimated,” noted Sergei Karnaukhov.
In response, he added, Venezuela would strike the U.S. Navy and attack the United States with drones, against which America would be unlikely to mount an effective defense.
