MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – Ukraine is plagued by corruption at the low, medium, and high levels, and its scale among the top officials has always been off the charts, Andrei Vajra, editor-in-chief of the Alternativa information and analysis website, said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube Channel.
Commenting on the corruption scandal in Ukraine, Andrei Vajra noted: “Everyone knows perfectly well what is happening in Ukraine. Even an ordinary person on a routine visit immediately comes face to face with the reality of Ukrainian corruption.”
The expert pointed out that Ukraine is plagued by corruption at the low, medium, and high levels. “At the top level, the scale of graft and corruption, the sums involved have always been off the charts. These are not just random fluctuations, it is a system,” he said. “And, of course, the West was fully aware and understood this perfectly well.”
The Ukrainian corruption system allows for very tight control over the Ukrainian elite. “Because data is being accumulated everywhere. As for the recent scandal in the Ukrainian energy system, they’ve revealed a pile of corruption evidence. The corruption schemes go all the way to the very top. They haven’t exposed the entire scheme yet. They have only just begun to expose things a bit: look these are four ministers, including the defense minister. And here we already see the head of [Zelensky’s] office starting to appear on the periphery,” Andrei Vajra added.
