Expert: Army inspection proves Belarus in control amid regional tensions

MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Belarus is not merely observing the aggressive policies of neighboring states but is also in control of the situation, as evidenced by the readiness inspection in the Belarusian Armed Forces, the progress of which is under the personal supervision of President Aleksandr Lukashenko, national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko told BelTA.

Aleksandr Tishchenko noted that neighboring states pursue aggressive policies, refusing to recognize established formats of interaction, and demonstratively preparing for war.

According to him, the fact that the president maintains personal oversight of the readiness inspection progress in the Armed Forces, specifically the 19th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade, confirms that we are not only observers but are in control of this situation. “Such inspections assess combat readiness and serve as a preemptive measure. They identify weak zones in defense and troop combat capability,” the expert explained. “Why one brigade? It serves as a test, allowing us to pinpoint issues. Functioning with the base command, supply, and support structures, the brigade essentially replicates the entire national military framework in miniature.”
This involves not only military resources but also civilian ones, because it entails cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergencies, the State Security Committee (KGB), border troops, and local authorities. “This is not simply about moving a brigade from its garrison to an assembly area in a short time. It tests the system’s readiness to sustain defense for several days until the arrival of main forces or the deployment of allied groupings. Combat readiness is tested based on the experience of the special military operation and other conflicts worldwide. This perspective extends far beyond our usual understanding,” he stated.

Aleksandr Tishchenko pointed out that such inspections allow for assessing troop readiness, including under the current weather conditions prevailing in the country.
