MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – The parliamentary and local elections in Belarus have garnered positive assessment, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev said during a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
Bakytzhan Sagintayev thanked the Belarusian head of state for the opportunity to meet. He said that the day before he talked with his compatriots who participated in the observation of the election campaign in Belarus, in particular, with the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, the deputy secretary general of the SCO, and received only positive feedback. "They came here as election observers, and they noted the high level of organization of the elections. So everything went orderly and well. The assessment is very positive," Bakytzhan Sagintayev said.
He highlighted the high voter turnout during early voting: "Such a high turnout is also the result of the work that was carried out. It may not have been noticeable from the outside, but the result shows: on the voting day everything went well, calmly, in a festive atmosphere."
"Please accept our congratulations," the chairman of the EEC Board said as he addressed the Belarusian president.
