MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) - Belarus has significantly strengthened its position in world rankings as a tourist destination. There is a growing interest of tourists in traveling around Belarus, Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Oleg Andreichik said at a board meeting of the Sport and Tourism Ministry to sum up the results for the year 2024 and tasks for 2025, BelTA learned.
“Belarus has significantly strengthened its position in world rankings as a tourist destination and entered the top three most popular destinations for Russia, confirming its status as a country favorable for travel. Currently, there is a growing interest among Belarusian and foreign tourists in traveling around our country,” Oleg Andreichik said.
According to preliminary data, in 2024 the number of tourist groups of both foreign and Belarusian citizens exceeded 2 million and the number of internal individual tourist trips exceeded 20 million.
In order to develop regional tourism potential, promote tourist products in domestic and international markets, a total of 18 additional tourist information centers opened in 2024. Currently, such centers are operating in 36 regions of Belarus.
Within the framework of the event, the National Tourism Agency organized an exhibition showcasing methodological recommendations, the results of marketing research, a guide to tourist attractions in Belarus, and collections of materials from scientific and practical conferences.
