CSTO countries discuss radioelectronic warfare development prospects

MOSCOW, 4 June (BelTA) – The first session of the working group on radioelectronic warfare under the CSTO Defense Ministers Council took place in the CSTO Joint Staff in Moscow on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov reminded those present that the working group on radioelectronic warfare had been established by the Defense Ministers Council resolution of 4 September 2020 upon the initiative of the CSTO Joint Staff for the sake of consolidating efforts meant to realize the potential of military administration bodies, the relevant educational institutions and research organizations, industrial enterprises, and other state-run and public organizations of the CSTO member states in the area of radioelectronic warfare. The work is supposed to benefit the CSTO collective forces and is meant to improve the effectiveness of application of the CSTO collective security system's forces and assets.

Chief of the Office for Planning the Deployment of Troops (Collective Forces), Deputy Chief of the Center for Planning the Deployment and Training of Troops (Collective Forces), Lieutenant-General Anatoly Yakovlev presented a report on prospects of development of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's force potential. A representative of the Russian Airborne Forces staff informed those present about the radioelectronic warfare forces and assets, which are assigned to the CSTO collective forces. Prospects of development of radioelectronic warfare means and forces of the CSTO member states were discussed as well as prospects of training radioelectronic warfare specialists for CSTO armies in Russian Defense Ministry educational institutions.

Chief of the Radioelectronic Warfare Command of Russia's Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Yuri Lastochkin presided over the session. Heads and representatives of the relevant divisions of the defense ministries of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, representatives of the CSTO Secretariat took part in the session.
