MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) - Minsk will play host to a meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives on 23 December, BelTA learned from the CIS Executive Committee.
The draft agenda of the meeting includes eight items. The main one is taking stock of Tajikistan’s chairmanship in the CIS in 2025. The report on this matter will be delivered by Tajikistan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the CIS Bakhtovar Safarzoda.
Members of the council will also review the results of their work over the past year and outline plans for the next. In addition, the representatives will discuss the implementation of the provisions of the CIS Free Trade Zone Treaty, the plan of key measures for the implementation of the concept of further CIS development, and approve the schedule of reports on the activities of CIS sectoral cooperation bodies at the meetings of the Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives Council, the Economic Issues Commission under the CIS Economic Council, and the CIS Economic Council in 2026-2027.
The meeting is also expected to consider proposals for the draft agenda of the next CIS Foreign Ministers Council scheduled for 17 April 2026 in Kaliningrad, and to review the results of the CIS Observer Mission at the early elections of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) of the Kyrgyz Republic held on 30 November.
