MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian State University intends to set up the second joint institute together with the Dalian Polytechnic University. The first one was established in 2017 and has attracted 159 Chinese students since then. The plans were mentioned by Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrei Korol during an Internet video briefing hosted by the National Press Center website on 21 February, BelTA has learned.
The first joint institute works in Dalian. The second one is expected to be opened in Belarus. “We are working hard to establish the second joint institute together with a key partner – the Dalian Polytechnic University. There are plans to set up a similar institute here so that Belarusian students could be taught by our professors and professors from the partner university,” Andrei Korol said.
“Agreements in principle have been reached. We are working on the legal base now,” he added.
The Belarusian State University rector said it is possible that the specialists the institute will train will be in demand in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.
The first joint institute comprises three departments: applied physics, mechanical engineering, math, and applied math. English is the language of instruction. Graduates from the Belarusian-Chinese institute will get two diplomas – from the Dalian Polytechnic University and from the Belarusian State University.
