MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian society has become more politically aware in recent years, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said at a sitting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation on 14 November, BelTA has learned.
"The absolute majority of the population clearly understands that only the people can determine the future of their country. We must walk this path with confidence and dignity," Igor Sergeyenko said.

According to him, MPs are responsible for protecting electoral sovereignty. "First of all, it concerns legislative activity. Time requires prompt and balanced decisions aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of our people. Certainly, in this crucial time we must be with our voters, keeping abreast of social and political trends and explaining the measures taken by all authorities to address local and national issues. Based on these approaches we are building our work, including by discussing the issues at this meeting," the speaker added.
