Belarusian air carrier compensated for delayed deliveries of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian air carrier Belavia hopes it will start receiving Boeing 737 MAX aircraft by the end of the year. The company is now receiving compensation due to the delayed delivery, BelTA learned from Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov on 20 February.

The executive said: “We are getting compensation [from the leasing company] for the two aircraft that were not delivered in 2019. Certainly, we would be happier to get the aircraft themselves. We will start receiving compensation in March for the two aircraft, which were not delivered in January.”

The executive said he believes that the air carrier will start receiving Boeing 737 MAX aircraft by the end of the year.

“We hope that flights of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will resume after all at least at the end of the year. We have not developed a Plan B to respond to the absence of these aircraft yet. We still believe Boeing will be able to find a solution to the problems that have emerged,” Anatoly Gusarov added.

Due to catastrophes involving Boeing 737 MAX aircraft many countries and air carriers suspended flights of this series of aircraft. Boeing Company suspended deliveries of the aircraft later on.
