MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Belarus will study the experience of Chinese modernization. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement after official negotiations with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko said: “We’ve determined one of the core tasks of the two governments for the medium term till 2030: studying and applying the experience of Chinese modernization, practical interaction in the development of a new variety of productive forces. With China’s assistance Belarus promotes scientific and technical innovations, creates new branches of the manufacturing sector, and modernizes existing ones, follows the ecological priority and green development, adapts to new trends in world industrial relations.”
The intergovernmental and interagency documents that have been signed just now have given a new impulse to these processes. “Upon the decision of the heads of state we’ve launched the Year of Belarus-China Cooperation in Science, Technologies, and Innovations. A plan of the corresponding events has been signed. I am convinced that it will allow building up industry-specific ties in the area of manufacturing cooperation and will become an additional stimulus for innovation-driven development,” the prime minister noted.
Trade and investment interaction was high on the agenda of the talks. “It is not surprising. China is Belarus’ second largest foreign trade partner after Russia. Since the time diplomatic relations were established between our countries the bilateral trade turnover has increased by more than 140 times. We continue increasing the scale and optimizing the structure of trade thanks to products with a high added value, by means of expanding the list of enterprises and new products, which are certified for deliveries to the Chinese market, by means of operating on digital commerce platforms and exchange trade ones, by means of increasing freight transportation by road and container transportation by rail,” the Belarusian head of government noted.
