Belarus’ Supreme Court head: Judiciary is key to stability in EAEU integration

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) - In the context of dynamic integration within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the role of the judiciary as a guarantor of stability is increasing manifold, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Belarus Andrei Shved said during a bilateral meeting held as part of a visit by Chairman of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union Alexey Dronov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Supreme Court.

The meeting addressed current aspects of further cooperation between the Supreme Court of Belarus and the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union.
“In the context of dynamically developing integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union, the role of the judiciary as a guarantor of stability is increasing manifold,” Andrei Shved said during the meeting.

The Supreme Court pays close attention to the legal positions of the EAEU Court, he continued. Indeed, the Court’s decisions shape law enforcement practice, which directly affects the development of the economies of EAEU member states.

“We highly value the dialogue that has been established between us, based on trust and a commitment to finding effective legal solutions,” Andrey Shved said.

Chairman of the EAEU Court Alexey Dronov spoke about the structure of the Court and the main areas of its activities. 
“The idea of institutionalizing the dialogue between the EAEU Court and the national judicial bodies of the member states has received broad support. Developing this dialogue is important for building a common understanding of the Union’s legal norms,” he said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual understanding of the necessity and importance of continuing to develop cooperation between the Supreme Court of Belarus and the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, and exchanged commemorative gifts.
