Belarus, Russia to build scientific experimental station

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) - A cooperation agreement was signed between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Synchrotron Radiation Facility "Siberian Circular Photon Source" (SRF SKIF) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The document was signed by Sergei Shcherbakov, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences at the National Academy of Sciences, and Evgeny Levichev, director of the SRF SKIF, BelTA learned from the press service of the Academy of Sciences. 

Taking into account the priorities of scientific and technological development of the Union State, plans are in place to combine the efforts of scientists from Belarus and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in order to create a SRF SKIF experimental station of the second phase BelSI on the basis of the international Russian-Belarusian consortium. The document also provides for the training of highly qualified specialists - users of the designed and other experimental stations at SRF SKIF and conducting research in the priority areas of the scientific and technological development of Belarus and Russia.

On 10-14 March, a NASB delegation headed by Sergei Shcherbakov is on a visit to the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk. On 11 March, the Belarusian scientists met with Academician Valentin Parmon, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and representatives of the administration of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and SRF SKIF to discuss promising areas of cooperation.

The parties also examined the conceptual design and technological capacities of the joint BelSI station. The Belarusian delegation is set to tour a number of institutes of Akademgorodok, to discuss the roadmap of scientific cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences for 2023-2025.
