MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko will attend Pope Francis’ funeral in Vatican on the instruction of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Press Secretary of the Belarusian president Natalya Eismont told RIA Novosti, BelTA has learned.
According to the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo, the delegation will also include the ambassador to the Holy See and the charge d'affaires in Italy.
Earlier, Aleksandr Lukashenko extended condolences over the death of Pope Francis: “Belarus was deeply saddened by the news about the demise of His Holiness Pope Francis. During his many years of service to Christ, Pope Francis showed loving care for his flock, all people, and the whole world. As a true humanist and defender of interests of ordinary people, the Pontiff made an invaluable contribution to social equality and justice. He was a man of deep faith, wisdom, and humanism”.
