MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – A book-illustrative exhibition to mark the 90th anniversary of Chinghiz Aitmatov will open at the National Library in Minsk on 12 December, BelTA learned from the organizers.
The exhibition will feature Chinghiz Aitmatov's works, the literature about the life and work of the writer from the library's holdings and his novels translated into the Belarusian language.
The exhibition will also showcase the varied illustrative materials and publications gifted to the National Library by Kyrgyzstan: Aitmatov's Universe encyclopedia, the collection of Chinghiz Aitmatov's works “White Rain” and four part video-narration of the Manas epic.
In addition, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan will run a mobile photo exhibition “Aitmatov is the Diplomat”.
“Known and respected worldwide, Chinghiz Aitmatov left behind a rich literary heritage. His works imbued with the national myths and legends still evoke great interest and have a large readership,” the National Library said.
The exhibition organized jointly with the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Belarus will stay open till 10 January.
