MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – The enforcement of border access regulations and the elimination of a group of armed border trespassers have been practiced during an exercise for the Grodno branch of the Belarusian border service, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.
According to the source, the enforcement of border access regulations near the border was practiced during the third stage of an ongoing tactical exercise. A set of preventive measures was also implemented in populated localities near the border and at the border line in association with entities entrusted with providing operational support to border security efforts.
Apart from that, according to the scenario of the exercise local residents notified the authorities about the location of an illegal armed unit in the border zone. This tip was verified and the border service special operations unit OSAM was deployed to block and eliminate the group of armed people, who had illegally infiltrated into Belarus' territory, the source added.
