MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Another batch of Su-30SM2 aircraft has arrived at an airfield of the Air Force and Air Defense Command, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The aircraft were delivered within the framework of military technology cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation for the sake of enhancing the Air Force ability to ensure the security of the Republic of Belarus in the air space, the source noted.

Chief of Staff, First Deputy Aviation Chief of the Aviation Office of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces Andrei Rachkov noted that Su-30SM is a modernized aircraft. “The target detection range has been practically tripled. It has new avionics, navigation tools, including in autonomous mode. It will be possible to fly without satellite guidance quite easily. The choice of airborne weapons has been increased, including guided missiles, free-flight rockets, and bombs. This aircraft allows dropping bombs with a universal gliding and correction module. We received the first batch at the beginning of this year. Pilots and technicians have successfully mastered this modernization. We are training young pilots and fly combat alert duty missions to provide air defense using these aircraft,” Andrei Rachkov stressed.
