Anfimov: 306 CIS observers have been accredited to monitor Belarus’ presidential election

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – A total of 306 CIS observers have already been accredited to monitor the presidential election in Belarus, said Leonid Anfimov, head of the CIS observation mission headquarters at Belarus’ presidential election, BelTA has learned.

On 9 January, the CIS observers met with senior members of the Supreme Court.

“A large CIS mission has been formed; 306 people have already been accredited,” Leonid Anfimov noted.

“More people might be included in the mission later. The mission consists of representatives of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, the Standing Committee of the Union State and the CIS Executive Committee."

The CIS observation mission started working in Belarus on 18 December. This is the 13th mission to observe elections and referendums in Belarus and the 130th mission to work in the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The CIS observation mission strictly abides by Belarusian laws, respects the sovereignty of the state, and objectively evaluates the preparation and conduct of the election.

Belarus’ presidential election is scheduled for 26 January 2025.
