MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Ukraine has already reached the point of no return, making the state nearly impossible to restore, Doctor of Political Sciences, expert on national security and the Middle East Simon Tsipis said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Speaking about the potential development of the conflict in Ukraine, the expert noted that its further continuation could lead to Ukraine losing more territories or even its statehood entirely. “Ukraine is already on the brink of what is called a failed state. A failed state is almost impossible to restore,” Simon Tsipis said.

The expert cited Iraq and Libya as examples, which have been in such a state for over 20 and 10 years, respectively. “Two more states have recently been added to this list: Syria and Lebanon. It is practically impossible to restore them. Pacifying the local factions that are fighting each other is an almost impossible mission,” he emphasized.

Thus, Simon Tsipis believes, if hostilities continue, Ukraine could find itself in a similar position. “To prevent this, a ceasefire agreement is needed to stop the military actions and Ukraine’s loss of territories,” the expert said. “But the Ukrainian side is not even willing to do that, it does not want to even discuss a truce and a ceasefire. This means it is not interested in a settlement.”
