MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarus and China have jointly created 34 high-level platforms for scientific cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told BelTA.
The diplomat noted that the Years of Scientific and Technological Innovation of China and Belarus, held in 2024 and 2025, were successfully completed.
“Over the past two years, the results of China-Belarus cooperation in science, technology, and innovation have been evident in several areas. In particular, exchanges in the scientific and technical area are becoming increasingly close, and the foundation of cooperation continues to strengthen. The parties carried out more than 60 scientific and academic exchanges in fields such as artificial intelligence, information technology, biopharmaceuticals, laser technology, new materials, and agriculture, with more than 2,000 experts participating,” Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan said.
He cited examples: “Specialists from both countries took part in the 23rd international conference on the exchange of highly qualified personnel in Shanghai, as well as in the opening of the Xi’an branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and exchanges between Chinese and Belarusian experts in Xi’an.”
The ambassador stressed that project cooperation is pragmatic and deep, with joint promotion of research activities.
“Based on the needs of economic and social development, the two sides jointly implemented 47 intergovernmental scientific and technical projects with a total funding of 80 million yuan. These projects cover advanced areas such as B5G/6G communications, new energy storage batteries, new materials, biopharmaceuticals, agricultural technologies, and environmental protection, within which joint research is being conducted,” he said.
The diplomat added that the construction of joint platforms has achieved significant results, with their capacity continuously strengthening. “The two countries jointly created 34 high-level cooperation platforms, including joint laboratories, technology innovation centers, industrial incubation bases, and joint training centers. Among them is the joint laboratory Electromagnetic Environment under the Belt and Road initiative in advanced materials manufacturing, where numerous technological breakthroughs have been achieved,” Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan noted.
He also emphasized that the application of scientific and technological progress is accelerating, with innovation acting as a driving force. “Both sides, adhering to market orientation, jointly focused on technological application and product development, initially forming an effective system for transforming results. For example, the joint Industrial Technology Innovation Center, established by the Guangdong Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, successfully facilitated the introduction of several advanced Belarusian technologies into the Chinese market, including a new generation of atomic force microscopes,” the ambassador concluded.
