MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Supporting women who face challenges on their journey to motherhood is how a welfare state invests in human capital, Tamara Krasovskaya, a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, told BelTA.

Belarus plans to simplify access to in vitro fertilization as much as possible. Innovations in reproductive technology will be reflected in a draft decree on the matter. The document was prepared on the instruction of the president. The impetus for the new regulations came from an appeal by a citizen to the head of state, which prompted further regulation of this area based on the wishes and needs of women.

Tamara Krasovskaya emphasized that the very fact that the head of state shows such attention and care to women striving to become mothers deserves the deepest respect. This care is demonstrated not in words but in actions, as the state takes on high-tech commitments within the broader framework of supporting motherhood.

“For every woman, being a mother is a great happiness, and I am very glad that in our country, help is provided to women who face challenges on the path to motherhood. Our socially oriented state is thus investing in human capital,” Tamara Krasovskaya noted.

The parliamentarian stressed that IVF is an expensive procedure, and the fact that it is carried out at the state’s expense makes it more accessible for the population.

“Belarus has a strong expertise in reproductive medicine. Our medical facilities report IVF success rates that are on par with global standards. The existence of comprehensive support for motherhood is a sign of a mature social policy. For women and couples facing infertility, this is not just assistance, but often their only chance to become parents. State-level support relieves them of a heavy financial burden and allows them to focus on what matters most: their health and getting ready for the baby,” Tamara Krasovskaya stressed.
