MOZYR, 6 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has issued a public warning to employers regarding timely salary payments to workers as he spoke during the opening ceremony for the renovated bridge over the Pripyat River in Mozyr on 6 November, BelTA has learned.
“We have plenty of enterprises. There are places to work. I want to publicly warn all executives: no matter what kind of enterprise you have, whether it's loss-making or neglected, you must pay people their salaries, no matter what. This is the main thing. If we fail to pay decent salaries, we will lose our workforce,” the head of state stressed.
He noted that, for example, there is currently a demand for labor resources in Russia, and some people may leave to earn money there. Some have gone in the western direction. “About 10,000-12,000 of our people have left for Poland. Although some say a million have left. It doesn't matter how many. But then they come to Grodno to get their teeth treated. Why? Because it's free here. But nothing is ever free. This means budgetary money. The state pays for you. So, a decision will be made on this matter as well,” the president said.

“If you go somewhere looking for a better place to earn money, that's fair, we won't stand in your way. Especially if you are going to Russia. But when you earn good money there, come back here and pay. We'll pull your tooth, do whatever you need. But only at your own expense,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Work on your own land. We have never been poor, and we never will be.”
